In May 2001 17 yr old William Lang shot and killed Decon Richard Hosking in Hosking's Pasco County Florida home during what appeared to be a burglary. Lang, a member of Hoskings church had briefly dated his daughter Katie, he was a foster child and had previously stayed at the Hosking home. Prosecutors say after the early afternoon shooting Lang waited for Katie Hosking, and then her mother Lauren Hosking, to return home and held them hostage as they pleaded for their lives. Lang fled in Hosking's car and was captured several days later in Statesboro, Georgia. Lang was convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the murder.
